On March 30, 2012, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rejected a citizens petition from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) that would banned the plastic-hardening chemical bisphenol-A (BPA) from all food and drink packaging, including plastic bottles and canned food.
